4 years old.

cannot believe that this little handsome man is 4 today.
un.real.
(I'm sure you see this part coming...)
seems just like yesterday I brought my sweet little hudson home from the hospital.
he was the most precious little baby.
(please forgive my poor photography skills that have come to haunt me from my past....)

those BIG blue eyes.

and the curly blonde hair. oh the hair. (that we chopped off.... I know...)

happiest of birthdays to you little handsome.
you make me truly happy because you made me your momma.
I know that you are going to do amazing things in your life.
xoxo,

how he loves us.

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-Romans 8:38

As I was editing these photos of my littles the song "How he loves us" by Jesus Culture. (one of my FAVORITE bands.) you can find it here

such amazing powerful words.
christ did so much for me that I just .... I just cant even fathom his love for me.
he gave up everything.
EV-ER-Y-THING.
for you.
for me.
of course on valentines day as women we expect so much from the day.
flowers, candy, special dinners, love notes... whatev.
well... at least I do.
and sadly... my selfish, fleshy heart expects it... heck! it even thinks it deserves it.
and my dumb flesh tries to convince me that its real love.
the surface crap.
the superficial stuff.
now don't get me wrong-
I think that it is so special the bond that God created between husband and wife.
the opportunity that we have to have romance and intimacy in our marriages.
but when good ol' self gets in the way... well thats when problems start.
like "I deserve this... I, I, I... me, me, me..."
real love is something that we can never put a price on.
ever.
the love of someone laying everything down (their life) for the sinners of the world.
near the end of the song kim walker-smith says-
"we're never the same when we encounter the love of God."
so true.
there is this void that is filled that nothing else could replace it.
all the stuff of the world that we try to shove in there.... could never, EVER fill that void.
only the love of Christ.
and PRAISE God that we have grace and the opportunity to receive that love.
HE is so good.
HIS love is so good.
Happy LOVE day.

grace. what it means to me.

"But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and [a]show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may [b]pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!"
- 2 Corinthians 12:9 amplified

grace.
one the most powerful words in my life.

almost 2 years ago, my father passed away. he had a very aggressive cancer and only knew for about 6 weeks before he passed away.
it was a very dark time in my life.
i felt so blindsided.
and i'm sure that my father felt so much worse.

exactly one month after my father passed away. my sweet little sophie was born.

she brought us so much joy in a heart-breaking time.
don't get me wrong, it was still so hard.
but.... it was almost like ahead of time God knew that we would need her.
at that time.

so many times we think things like-
i can't do it.
its too hard.
not by myself.
i'm not good enough.

HE can do it.
its not too hard for HIM.
you are not alone because you have HIM.
yes you are!
yes HE can!

the reason we live is because of his grace!
he already paid that price.
long ago on that cross.
but why do we keep picking it back up?
well, because the devil is a stupid liar thats why!
does this come easy to me? nope.
but thats why I have HIM. and grace.

i really hate that my father passed away when he did.
i wish that with all my heart he could have met his precious grandbaby girl.
but BECAUSE of grace my father is in a much better place.
and thank you lord that we have that amazing gift!

grace meant so much to my husband and i, my family... our lives.
that we named our daughter sophia grace.
in a way... she was our "saving grace".
love our little girl.
she may not know it yet, but she will do amazing things.

and I love that we have the amazing gift of grace.
